Kidepo Valley National Park covers 1442 Square Kilometres in size, This Park is among the most spectacular parks in Uganda, though it is very Remote, located in the North-East of Uganda, bordering Sudan and Kenya, in the Karamoja District.

The park can be reached by both road and air. Driving is more rewarding, like Kidepo itself, is a vast and unspoiled wilderness. However, road conditions are sometimes difficult and 4WD vehicles are usually essential to reach the park that is 571 km from Kampala city

Animal Species found in kidepo valley National Park

The vegetation is dominated by an open Savannah and acacia trees. Kidepo Valley National park hosts at least 84 mammal species including elephants, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, bush pigs and many predators, like the black-backed jackal, African hunting dog, cheetahs, lions, and leopards. There are 15 antelope species. The bird checklist is of 463 species recorded like a pygmy falcon, Ostriches’, tawny eagle, secretary bird and vultures.


A number of game drive tracks direct visitors to wildlife viewing locations in the Nar’s valley in the South West of the Park, mountain hiking, bird watching, camping, community visits and cultural performances participation.

Charter flights to Kidepo can be arranged from Kampala, Kajjansi, Aerolink club, or Entebbe with Fly Uganda. Flights take about two hours.
